Multi-Chambered Planar Magnetics Design Techniques
نویسنده
چکیده
New planar construction alternatives for blending the various power magnetic components of switch mode power processing circuits and systems are presented. These unique approaches are based on the use of core designs with multiple winding areas and core sections which provide common flux paths for transformer and inductor operations, arranged so as to minimize magnetic interactions and core material required. Construction examples for 125-watt & 50-watt DC-to-DC switch mode converters are detailed, the latter example consisting of a four-piece three-chamber cylindrical planar core structure that houses all power magnetic functions, including input filter inductance. Planar means to control leakage inductances between inductive windings are also presented for control and reduction of AC ripple current magnitudes.

متن کاملA Generalized Approach to Planar Induction Heating Magnetics
This thesis describes an efficient numerical simulation technique of magnetoquasistatic electromagnetic fields for planar induction heating applications. The technique is based on a volume-element discretization, integral formulation of Maxwell’s equations, and uses the multilayer Green’s function to avoid volumetric meshing of the heated material. The technique demonstrates two orders of magni...
متن کاملThe Benefits of Planar Magnetics in OF Power Conversion Planar Magnetics (PM): The Technology that Meets the Challenges of HF Switch and Resonant Mode Power Conversion
The ever lasting quest for high power density solutions to power conversion systems, has recently yielded intriguing new engineering ideas and conversion topologies. Most if not all of these, hinge on the theoretical prediction that the size of magnetic components and capacitors should decrease as the conversion frequency is increased. Unfortunately, as many designers have learned the hard way,...

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive study on the efficiency of planar parallel mechanisms, considering their kinetostatic performance and also, their workspace. This aim is approached upon proceeding single- and multi-objective optimization procedures. Kinetostatic performances of ten different planar parallel mechanisms are analyzed by resorting to a recent index, kinematic sens...
متن کاملMicromachined planar inductors on silicon wafers for MEMS applications
This paper describes three micromachined planar inductors (a spiral type, a solenoid type, and a toroidal meander type) with electroplated nickel–iron permalloy cores which have been realized on a silicon wafer using micromachining techniques. The electrical properties among the fabricated inductors are compared and the related fabrication issues are discussed, with emphasis on the low-temperat...
